About Me

Hey there!

I’m Rob, a Westcountry guy in London, and a full-time digital marketer. This blog was used in the past to share thoughts and opinions on Social Media. I may start writing again soon 😉

I’m currently the International Social Media Manager for Kaplan International Colleges, and it’s my job to implement our global social media strategy. I train Online Country Marketing Managers from countries such as Japan, South Korea, Spain, Mexico, Columbia, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Russia, Poland, Portugal and Brazil, so that they can use social media effectively within their own markets. I also support and advise teachers and marketing staff from America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, so that they are able to use social media to effectively engage with their own students. Running our global accounts, monitoring our brand, integrating Social into other departments, managing my assistant and controlling the budget are all other important duties.

In my previous job, I integrated social media into Business Link South West, and expanded their B2B presence on social platforms. Writing plans, implementing strategy, producing policy, training staff, running sites, controlling accounts and changing habits were all been part of my duties. I also organised and managed a series of social media events aimed at businesses who were in the very early stages of their social media understanding and implementation. Over 800 businesses attended these events across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, with feedback being exceptional.

In my spare time, I was lead organiser of Plymouth Twestival 2010. Out of the hundreds of cities that took part, we finished 3rd in the UK and 12th internationally. We managed to raise almost £6,000 for Concern, using social media to organise the event. I also voluntarily organised Devon Social Media Cafe meets. These occasions allowed users of social media to meet up with and chat to other local social media users in a informal environment.

My blogging highlight came when I started the #21days challenge. Over 100 users of social media from across the globe took part in the challenge, which is based around trying to create positive change by forming good habits. Dead proud of that.

My past life included door-to-door and telesales roles, as well as achieving a Bachelors of Arts Honours Degree in Marketing.

I am not sure whether social media and marketing are passions or obsessions, but I think it’s a good thing anyway. Thanks for stopping by!
