Commenting on blogs and those who make time

September 24, 2010 · 8 comments

10 months ago I decided that through blogging I would share some views and opinions on social media and marketing. I made a plea: “Without you, there is no blog. Please get as involved as you like and leave comments”. This is my time to say thank you to those that did!

Taking the time to leave comments on other people’s blogs and take part in conversations is a big thing. Everyone has work commitments, home commitments and a barrage of content being thrown in their direction. Any blogger should be extremely grateful when someone spends THIER time leaving a comment.

To try and give something back, I’ve provided a list of those who have left comments and the areas they have shown an interest in. Why don’t you find some areas you’re interested in and get chatting to them? They have shown that they will make the time to talk.

Plus, meeting new people, exchanging views and learning from each another is what makes social media so fun, don’t you think?

By connecting with those in the lists above, there could be plenty of opportunities just around the corner. Here’s hoping…

By the very nature of this blog I thought I would comment lol :)
This is a great idea ..linking like minded people!
Finding the time to write a blog is a great thing too Rob..the best gift you can give someone is your time :) A recent follower offered me an automated “Thank You” in response to comments and retweets. If someone takes the time to comment on any tweets then its nice to try to take the time to respond with a personal thank you back ……. so this blog is a very generous thank you from you and its really appreciated :) :)

Like the above comment, I’m commenting for the same reason…that’s the idea after all?

I set up a blog some time ago, and I’m always struggling to think of things to write about (my posts have never had any comments either), and I’m not using this comment to promote my own blog either!

“The best gift you can give someone is your time” – very true. Giving time to others is great, seeing or hearing their reaction is even better. I wish there were more hours in the day to get that feeling!

I’m with you on the personalised responses. Who wants to be spoken to by computer rather than a person? :-)

    Hi Laurence,

You may find this helpful for coming up with more blog ideas.

There are so many hints and tips about how to receive comments (good content, ask questions, engage readers, comment on other blogs etc) but I always try to keep in touch with those who share similar interests. Spending time to socialise with other like minded people makes a big difference. I wish there were more hours in the day to do it!

Thank you for the mentions Robert – and thank you also for your time spent in bringing people together in the true spirit of social media. You’re doing a grand job – keep it up ;-)

Thanks Sue. Thank you for spending the time to get involved in some great discussions – the rights and wrongs of blogging for companies is a personal favourite :-)

    Hi Rob

Thanks ever so much for the mentions. Great post and great idea for connecting people together and sharing ideas and thoughts. Demonstration, if ever there was one, on how social we are becoming in business. Bring on more of the conversation…..

No worries Ann. Connecting people and sharing ideas is fun!
